D’abord, il faut dès le plus jeune âge du chien, ne pas le laisser mordiller les enfants. Pour qu’il ne les mettent pas au rang de « frères et soeurs de meute ».
Il faut dire NON tout simplement. Rien de plus, si ce n’est une petite caresse d’acquiescement pour féliciter d’exécuter l’effort demandé. Le chien (petit ou grand, peu importe), doit faire la distinction entre la place des enfants et la sienne au sein de la famille.
Il faut par exemple interdire à un chien dominant les places de prestige à la maison : canapés, fauteuils, lits, sinon, pensant défendre son territoire. En bon chien qu’il est, il repoussera, une fois de plus à sa manière, celui qui viendra prendre place sur son domaine. Naturellement !
Les membres de la famille eux aussi doivent respecter certaines règles. Et ne pas déranger le chien quand il mange, quand il dort, quand il a mal quelque part ou quand il est perturbé.
Comme nous, les chiens n’ont pas tous le même caractère et certains sont plus « soupe au lait » que d’autres. Ils répondent néanmoins, tout comme nos enfants, à des codes que nous leur apprenons. Alors soyons de bons guides pour que la vie soit harmonieuse et surtout sans danger. Les chiens aiment jouer avec les enfants mais pas que ces derniers les prennent pour leur jouet !
